MECHANICAL DESIGN (HVAC) SERVICES

Great buildings start with great enclosures, but a great enclosure needs a properly designed mechanical system to become a truly efficient, comfortable, and healthy building.
That is our focus at ZON; we understand the challenges of low-load buildings and have the expertise to select an appropriate strategy and ensure it is properly implemented. We start every project by listening to our clients’ needs and concerns. We seek to educate clients and design teams on the environmental, energy, and cost implications of potential mechanical strategies. During the concept design phase, our team provides clients with customized systems options, highlighting the system complexity, energy consumption, capital cost, and space requirements of each.
Owners can then choose a system that meets their needs. ZON Engineering Inc. provides clients with complete heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system designs for commercial and residential projects. ‘Right- sizing' a mechanical system starts with collaboration between ZON and the project architect/designer to review the building enclosure and properly calculate the heating and cooling loads for each space in the building. By designing a system that is sized for the space and its occupants, we can reduce equipment costs, energy consumption, and utility costs while providing excellent indoor air quality and thermal comfort. We know the importance of good domestic hot water design to the overall energy consumption of the building and offer detailed DHW design services, including plant and distribution network design to ensure efficient generation, minimal heat loss, and short wait times. The goal of any NZE building is to first minimize the amount of on-site energy consumed by addressing building components such as envelope, systems and occupant habits; from there, the remaining energy consumption can be offset with on-site renewable energy, such as a rooftop solar PV array.
